Hays Education are a GCA Lot 1 Approved supplier who works with a variety of friendly and supportive nurseries across Stafford and the surrounding Staffordshire area that are looking for both qualified and unqualified Nursery Assistants to support them from September 2026. Whether you're looking for a couple of days a week, full-time hours, or something in between, we have opportunities to suit you. With flexibility at the heart of these roles, even if your availability changes from week to week, we'll work with you to find assignments that fit around your schedule.

Your New Role

As a Nursery Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting children's early learning, development and wellbeing in a safe and nurturing environment. Working across a range of nurseries and schools in Stafford and Staffordshire, you could be:

  • Supporting children through play-based learning and daily activities
  • Encouraging children's social, emotional and educational development
  • Helping to create a fun, positive and stimulating environment
  • Assisting with routines, activities and general nursery support
  • Building positive relationships with children, staff and parents

We can offer day-to-day supply work, short-term assignments and long-term placements, with some opportunities leading to permanent employment.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Be willing to complete our standard compliance and vetting checks, including an Enhanced DBS check
  • Be available to work a variety of shift patterns between 7:30am and 6:00pm, with shifts ranging from 4 to 10 hours
  • Have recent and relevant childcare experience and be able to provide references
  • Have a flexible, positive and reliable approach to work
  • Enjoy working with children and supporting their development
  • Ideally hold a childcare qualification, although this is not essential
