We are seeking a Finance and HR Officer to join Hays and support the smooth running of a welcoming and forward-thinking school in the Lancaster area. This is a key role, offering the opportunity to contribute to the school\’s operational success and ensure compliance with financial and HR procedures. Working closely with the School Business Manager and senior leadership team, you will take responsibility for a range of finance and personnel tasks, helping to ensure the school runs efficiently and effectively. This is a temporary position starting in August on a part time basis with the role going full time in September. This role has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. Your new role Assist in developing and implementing financial procedures, including processing purchase orders, invoices, banking transactions, and accounting entries Perform monthly reconciliations and support ongoing financial monitoring and reporting Contribute to the preparation and submission of monthly, annual, and statutory financial returns (e.g. VAT) Support HR functions such as safer recruitment checks, absence tracking, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date staff records Help manage wider resource systems (e.g. catering), including data collection and reporting Support procurement activities and contract management, ensuring adherence to contractual terms and compliance standards Provide cross-departmental administrative support and cover for colleagues when required Uphold confidentiality and ensure all tasks are carried out in line with GDPR and data protection regulations.
