Your new company Hays Education are working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in North London to recruit an experienced and driven Head of Business & Economics. Your new role As Head of Business & Economics, you will lead the delivery of Business Studies and Economics across Key Stages 4 and 5, shaping a curriculum that is engaging, relevant, and aligned with real-world applications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Business & Economics department, including line management and staff development
  • Driving high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement at GCSE and A-Level
  • Designing and delivering a forward-thinking curriculum that reflects current economic and business contexts
  • Monitoring progress, analysing data, and implementing effective interventions
  • Promoting enrichment opportunities, including enterprise initiatives, competitions, and external partnerships
  • Contributing to wider school leadership and continuous improvement priorities

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Strong experience teaching Business Studies and/or Economics at KS4 and KS5
  • Proven leadership experience or readiness to step into a Head of Department role
  • Excellent subject knowledge and passion for developing students' understanding of business and economic principles
