The school places great value on enrichment, the arts and holistic education, ensuring pupils benefit from a broad and engaging learning experience from the earliest stages of their educational journey.

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic music specialist who can bring energy, imagination and expertise to the classroom, creating memorable musical experiences for young learners and fostering a culture where music is celebrated throughout the school community.

The Role

Working closely with school leaders and teaching colleagues, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the music provision, helping to establish a curriculum that is inspiring, inclusive and ambitious. You will create lessons that encourage active participation and enjoyment, enabling every child to develop a strong musical foundation regardless of prior experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Introduce pupils to fundamental musical concepts including rhythm, tempo, pitch, dynamics and performance.
  • Foster a love of music through engaging, interactive and age-appropriate activities.
  • Inspire creativity through singing, movement, composition and musical exploration.
  • Encourage confidence and participation in both individual and group performances.
  • Organise and support concerts, assemblies, seasonal productions and wider school events.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to support development.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where all children can thrive.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate music into the broader curriculum where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the school's wider enrichment programme and cultural life.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will be a passionate educator with a genuine enthusiasm for introducing young children to the joys of music. You will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching music within an Early Years, KS1 or primary setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and practical musical skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to delivering an outstanding educational experience for every child.
  • The enthusiasm to contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

Applications are welcomed from both experienced music teachers and talented practitioners with relevant experience in delivering specialist music education to young children.

What You'll Get in Return

  • A rare opportunity to help shape and develop a growing music programme.
  • The chance to make a significant impact within a forward-thinking independent school.
  • Supportive and approachable senior leadership.
  • A collaborative and dedicated staff team.
  • Access to excellent facilities and resources.
  • A school culture that values creativity, enrichment and pupil wellbeing.
  • Competitive salary of £45,000-£60,000, dependent on experience.
