Hays Education is proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded independent preparatory school in Essex to recruit an outstanding Drama Teacher for its Early Years and Key Stage 1 provision. The Role

As Drama Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and age-appropriate drama lessons across Early Years and Key Stage 1. Through performance, storytelling, movement, improvisation and creative play, you will help pupils develop essential communication, social and emotional skills while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts. Working closely with colleagues and school leaders, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a dynamic drama curriculum and lead opportunities for performance throughout the academic year. This role offers considerable scope for creativity and innovation, making it ideal for an educator who is passionate about introducing young learners to the world of drama and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging drama lessons for Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils.

  • Develop pupils' confidence, communication skills and stage presence.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic and creative practitioner with a passion for drama education and child development. You will possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching drama within an Early Years, KS1 or primary setting.
  • Strong knowledge of drama, performance and creative arts education.
  • The ability to engage and inspire young learners through imaginative teaching approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A nurturing and inclusive approach to classroom practice.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to lead performances and productions.
