Your new company, Hays Education, are supporting a friendly and inclusive primary school in Bootle, Sefton who are seeking a dedicated Level 2 qualified Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their team. This welcoming school places a strong emphasis on nurturing each child's development in a caring and stimulating environment. As an EYTA based in their Nursery class, you will work alongside the Early Years team to support children aged 3-5 during this crucial stage of their learning journey.
Your new role
Starting 1st September 2026, this Early Years Teaching Assistant job is full time for the full academic year. Working hours are 8.30-3.30 Monday - Friday during term time.
Key duties for this EYTA position include:
- Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging, play-based learning activities in line with the EYFS framework
- Promoting children's social, emotional, and physical development through positive interactions and encouragement
- Assisting in creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
- Providing targeted support for individual pupils, including those with additional needs
- Carrying out regular observations and assessments, and recording children's progress, contributing to learning journals and discussions with staff
- Building strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
What you'll need to succeed
For this Teaching Assistant role you will need:
- A minimum of Level 2 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or equivalent
- Previous experience working within Early Years or Primary School settings
- A sound understanding of the EYFS framework
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
