The role

We are seeking an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant to join the Early Years team on a full-time, long-term basis for the entire academic year starting September 2026. This role is ideal for a confident and proactive individual who has a solid background in Early Years and is passionate about supporting young children in their formative stages of development.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering a creative and engaging EYFS curriculum
  • Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and development
  • Assist with planning and setting up stimulating activities across all areas of learning
  • Support children's social, emotional and communication development
  • Carry out observations and contribute to assessments in line with EYFS requirements
  • Encourage positive behaviour and independence
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming classroom environment
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in an Early Years setting is essential
  • Relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 in Childcare or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS framework
  • Experience supporting children with a range of needs, including EAL (desirable in a diverse setting)
  • A positive, patient and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to a busy classroom environment
