A busy Secondary School based in Central Birmingham is looking for a School Receptionist. The cover is Monday to Friday, 8am - 4pm to start in September 2026.

The school is seeking a professional and welcoming Receptionist to join their busy secondary school in Birmingham. As the first point of contact for students, parents, visitors and staff, you will play a key role in creating a positive and supportive environment for our school community. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised individual with strong communication and administrative skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced educational setting.

The role will entail:

  • Manage the school's reception area and welcome visitors in a professional manner.
  • Answer and direct telephone calls and email enquiries.
  • Maintain visitor records in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • Support attendance, admissions and general administrative processes.
  • Update and maintain pupil records and school databases.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing post.
  • Assist staff with administrative tasks and school communications.
  • Monitor signing-in procedures and visitor safeguarding requirements.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the school office.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • You will have previous reception experience with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You will also have strong organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook and Excel is essential.
  • You will also have recent satisfactory references for carrying out a similar placement within the last 2 years.
  • You will also need to have an up to date DBS check, the school can't accept any applicants without this.
