Your new role
The Planning Validation Team plays a vital role in ensuring planning applications are correctly submitted before they progress through the planning process. With a significant volume of applications currently awaiting review, we are looking for motivated individuals who can quickly learn complex processes and work accurately within a fast-paced environment. As a Business Support Officer within the Planning Validation Team, you will play a key role in reviewing and validating planning applications to ensure they meet the required standards before progressing through the planning process. Working with a high volume of applications, you will carefully assess submissions, check supporting documentation against established criteria, identify any missing or incorrect information, maintain accurate records on internal systems, and support applicants and colleagues where necessary. This is a detail-focused role that requires you to apply guidance and procedures accurately while helping the team process applications efficiently and effectively.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a highly organised and detail-focused individual with previous administration or business support experience, capable of working accurately within a fast-paced environment. You will need to have experience in planning within local government, or a similar regulatory setting, as you will be dealing with complex processes and will need to confidently apply detailed guidance. You will possess excellent organisational and communication skills, be comfortable using a range of IT systems and Microsoft Office applications, and have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Most importantly, you will bring a proactive approach, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
