Birmingham City Council have an exciting opportunity for qualified Social Workers to join the Citywide Triage Adult Safeguarding Team at Birmingham City Council.

Birmingham City Council are looking for a dedicated and highly motivated Social Worker to join the Citywide Triage function which provides an immediate response to adult safeguarding referrals, undertaking initial information gathering and analysis to form an assessment of risk and determine the appropriate pathway for the citizen. This is a dynamic and fast-paced area of practice, where the ability to make defensible decisions in accordance with relevant legislation is key.

The ability to apply knowledge of relevant legislation and policy frameworks in practice and work in partnership with citizens, carers, communities, and other professionals is essential. The team is staffed with highly skilled and experienced Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and Team Managers, who all contribute to a friendly and supportive working environment. There is a robust induction and training offer for new staff and excellent opportunities for ongoing CPD within the team and across the wider Adult Social Care Directorate.

Hybrid ways of working are available with options to work from home, our New Aston House, and/or a range of community hubs and other bases across the city. Appropriate equipment and support are provided. Competitive rates of pay with opportunity for negotiation in relation to skills and experience.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Have a recognised professional Social Work qualification (MA/BA/B.Sc. in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or CQSW)
  • Social Work England registration
  • 1 year post-qualifying experience
  • Previous experience working within Social Work adults services
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to travel as required
