Hays Senior Finance are delighted to be recruiting for a Head of Finance to join a well-established and purpose-driven organisation in West Wales. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for ensuring financial integrity, supporting effective governance and contributing to the long-term sustainability of the organisation. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will lead the finance function, provide strategic financial leadership and work closely with senior stakeholders to support decision-making and organisational performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional who enjoys operating at both a strategic and operational level whilst making a meaningful contribution to the wider organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and treasury management activities.
- Prepare annual statutory accounts and oversee financial controls, payroll and financial procedures.
- Provide financial advice and support to senior leadership and governing members.
- Lead and develop the finance team whilst promoting continuous improvement across systems and processes.
- Support income generation activities and the identification of external funding opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with auditors, funding bodies and other key external stakeholders.
- Play an active role within the senior leadership team, helping shape future strategy and organisational performance.
- Ensure the organisation remains compliant with all relevant financial and regulatory requirements.
What We're Looking For:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Significant senior finance leadership experience within a public sector, local government or similarly regulated environment.
- Experience working with senior leaders, boards, members or equivalent stakeholders.
- Strong budgeting, financial reporting, governance and treasury management experience.
- Proven people leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience of Sage accounting software would be advantageous.
- Ability to speak Welsh confidently is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders where required.
