Your new role involves working with Southend City Council as a permanent, part-time Recruitment Fostering Officer. The role focuses on attracting, engaging, and converting potentially interested foster carers to increase the number of approved foster carers by promoting the fostering department and guiding applicants through the early stages of the recruitment process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the recruitment strategy for Fostering.
  • Producing and distributing promotional material.
  • Developing relationships with the press, media, and community groups.
  • Organising recruitment events.
  • Being the first point of contact for prospective foster carers.
  • Organising pre-approval training for foster carers.
  • Providing accurate information and advice about different fostering schemes in Southend.
  • Dealing effectively with visitors and telephone callers.
  • Collecting information and completing initial enquiry forms.
  • Sending out up-to-date recruitment information packs.

The working week is 25 hours, which are flexible to your needs. Hybrid working opportunities are available, but you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 1 day a week.

What you'll need to succeed:

To be shortlisted for this position, it is essential to hold a GCSE qualification in English and Maths. Knowledge of the Children Social Care sector, preferably within a Local Authority environment, is required.
