Hays Senior Finance Interim & Contract Team are exclusively supporting a well-established Plymouth-based charity with the appointment of an experienced Interim Management Accountant to provide additional support during a busy period of change and growth. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional to join a collaborative finance team and take ownership of management reporting, budgeting and financial analysis while supporting senior leadership with key decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
  • Produce budget holder reports and provide financial commentary.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes across the organisation.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain financial controls.
  • Analyse financial performance and identify variances against budget.
  • Assist with cashflow forecasting and reporting.
  • Support year-end activities and audit preparation.
  • Prepare and post journals, accruals and prepayments.
  • Work closely with departmental managers to provide financial insight and support.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance function.
  • Support grant income and restricted fund reporting where required.
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial projects and reporting requests.

About You

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or Qualified by Experience.
  • Previous Management Accountant experience within a complex organisation.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and management reporting skills.
  • Excellent Excel and financial analysis capabilities.
  • Able to work independently and add value quickly within an interim assignment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Previous experience within a charity, not-for-profit, public sector or education environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience with finance systems implementation or process improvement projects would be beneficial.
