Your new company is a long-standing, well-regarded accountancy practice with a large north-west presence seeking an experienced Personal Tax Specialist to join their growing team in Northwich. This is a permanent, full-time role offering the opportunity to manage a varied and interesting personal tax portfolio within a supportive and modern practice environment.
Your new role involves reporting directly to the Client Director, taking ownership of an established portfolio of approximately (Apply online only) personal tax clients, including high-net-worth individuals, landlords, and Court of Protection cases. The role covers the full end-to-end personal tax compliance cycle, with responsibility for the preparation, review, and submission of self-assessment tax returns, ensuring accuracy, technical quality, and compliance with UK tax legislation. You will act as a key point of contact for clients, managing relationships professionally and sensitively, responding to queries, and providing clear and practical advice. The role also involves liaising with HMRC and third parties, preparing and filing P11Ds, administering payroll benefits in kind, and keeping up to date with changes in personal tax legislation and HMRC requirements.
What you will need to succeed: This opportunity would suit someone with previous personal tax experience within an accountancy practice, who is comfortable managing their own workload while also supporting colleagues within a close-knit team. You will be highly organised, able to plan effectively around deadlines, and confident delivering 'right first time' tax returns. A tax or accountancy qualification, or studying towards one, would be beneficial but is not essential. This is an excellent opportunity for a personal tax professional looking to join a values-driven firm where technical quality, flexibility, and long-term development are genuinely encouraged.
What you will get in return: The firm places genuine importance on work-life balance and employee wellbeing, offering a competitive benefits package and investing in modern systems and technology to support both clients and staff. Hybrid working is available following probation, with a typical split of three days in the office and two from home. The benefits package includes a competitive salary dependent on experience, 36 days' holiday inclusive of bank holidays and Christmas, a 5% employer pension contribution, life assurance, enhanced family leave and sick pay, employee assistance programme, paid volunteering time, long-service rewards, on-site parking, and the option to buy or sell up to five days' holiday.
