A large, value-led organisation with a significant UK presence is looking to appoint a Group Tax Manager to join its finance leadership team. Operating across a complex and highly regulated environment, the organisation manages a diverse portfolio of entities and places a strong emphasis on governance, compliance and long-term sustainability. Reporting into the Head of Financial Reporting, you will take ownership of the group's tax compliance and advisory activities, ensuring tax risks are effectively managed and all obligations are met accurately and on time.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the preparation and submission of VAT, Corporation Tax, CIS, Gift Aid and Employment Tax returns
- Acting as the primary point of contact for HMRC and managing all tax-related correspondence
- Providing technical tax support and advice to senior stakeholders across the business
- Supporting strategic projects and assessing the tax implications of business decisions
- Managing relationships with external advisers and ensuring a smooth flow of information
- Monitoring changes in tax legislation and accounting standards, assessing their impact on the organisation
- Identifying opportunities to improve tax efficiency and strengthen financial controls
- Supporting statutory reporting processes and tax disclosures within the accounts
- Driving process improvements, system enhancements and the development of robust tax policies and procedures
- Leading on complex tax consultations and technical projects across the group
What you'll need to succeed:
To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified finance professional with strong UK tax experience gained either in industry or practice.
You will bring:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CTA or equivalent CCAB qualification
- Strong knowledge of UK tax compliance, ideally including Corporation Tax, VAT and CIS
- Experience managing relationships with HMRC and external advisers
- The ability to interpret technical tax legislation and communicate complex issues to non-tax stakeholders
- Experience identifying tax risks and delivering practical business-focused solutions
- Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities
- A proactive and commercially minded approach with a focus on continuous improvement
- Additional experience within a regulated environment and/or a professional tax qualification would be advantageous.
