Your new company Hays is delighted to be partnering with a Scottish charity in the recruitment of a Management Accountant. A respected organisation whose work spans vital frontline services including individual and group support, residential care, education and specialist services for veterans. The organisation is values-led, committed to inclusion, and focused on delivering meaningful, high-quality services across Scotland while ensuring financial sustainability and strong governance.

Your new role As Management Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial insight across the organisation, supporting effective planning, monitoring and decision-making. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts, alongside clear and accessible financial analysis that enables stakeholders to understand financial performance and make informed decisions. You will lead elements of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, working closely with budget holders to ensure plans are realistic, aligned to organisational priorities and consistently applied. The role requires regular monitoring of performance, with responsibility for identifying and explaining variances, trends and risks, as well as providing constructive challenge where assumptions or plans require scrutiny. This position also has a strong focus on collaboration and continuous improvement. You will work with colleagues across the organisation to improve financial understanding, support financial modelling for funding bids and commercial activity, and contribute to the development of robust key performance indicators that link financial performance with service delivery. Hybrid working is available, although travel across Scotland to attend meetings and organisational sites will be required from time to time.

What you'll need to succeed To succeed in this role, you will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant, holding or working towards a recognised professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience in financial reporting and analysis. You will have hands-on experience preparing management accounts and financial reports, supported by strong analytical skills and the ability to identify, explain and respond to financial variances, trends and risks. You will be comfortable supporting budgets and forecasts and working closely with non-finance colleagues, using your communication skills to present financial information clearly and in an accessible way. A collaborative mindset, strong attention to detail and the confidence to provide reasoned financial challenge are essential. Experience within a charity, public sector or regulated environment, supporting funding bids, or working with ERP systems such as NetSuite would be advantageous, though not essential.

What you'll get in return In return, you will secure a permanent role within a purpose-driven organisation that delivers meaningful impact across Scotland. The post is offered on a 35-hour working week, Monday to Friday, with hybrid working available. You will join a supportive and collaborative finance team, working within an organisation that values integrity, openness and continuous improvement. Sight Scotland is committed to accessible and inclusive recruitment practices and will provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment and employment process where required.
