An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Buyer to join a major construction and infrastructure programme. Based in Nottinghamshire with hybrid working, this role offers the chance to play a key role in delivering complex, high-value projects while shaping procurement strategy, supplier relationships, and commercial outcomes. As Senior Buyer, you will lead end-to-end procurement and commercial activities across high-value projects, ensuring value for money, effective risk management, and strong supplier performance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading complex procurement exercises from sourcing strategy through to contract award
  • Managing major supplier and subcontractor relationships across construction and infrastructure projects
  • Developing procurement and category strategies that support programme delivery
  • Negotiating contracts, commercial terms, and long-term framework agreements
  • Supporting cost management, forecasting, change control, and commercial risk mitigation
  • Providing procurement assurance and ensuring compliance with governance and procurement regulations
  • Advising senior stakeholders on sourcing, contracting, and supplier management strategies
  • Driving supply chain innovation, resilience, sustainability, and continuous improvement
  • Supporting and mentoring buyers and junior procurement professionals

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Significant experience within procurement, sourcing, commercial management, or supply chain management
  • Experience working within construction, engineering, infrastructure, utilities, energy, or major projects environments
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practice, contract management, and commercial governance
  • Experience managing complex procurements and high-value supplier contracts
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage risk and deliver value
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and public procurement regulations would be advantageous
