A leading Engineering Services provider is seeking a Buyer to join its growing Procurement team. Operating within a safety-critical environment, the business provides essential services to support operations across Wales and is committed to delivering operational excellence, innovation and value through its supply chain.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement of goods and services required to support operational delivery. You will work closely with stakeholders across Engineering, Production, Finance and Operations to ensure materials and services are sourced competitively, delivered on time and meet quality requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing sourcing activities for direct spend categories.
  • Obtaining quotations, evaluating proposals and leading supplier negotiations.
  • Raising, processing and expediting purchase orders to meet operational requirements.
  • Supporting category management and supplier performance initiatives.
  • Developing and maintaining strategic supplier relationships.
  • Monitoring supplier KPIs relating to cost, quality and delivery performance.
  • Supporting contract negotiation and contract management activities.
  • Identifying opportunities for commercial savings and process improvements.
  • Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to understand demand and procurement requirements.
  • Resolving supplier and supply chain issues to minimise operational disruption.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Previous experience within a Buyer, Procurement or Supply Chain role.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and performance.
  • Ability to analyse quotations and make commercially sound recommendations.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and operate effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing, engineering or regulated environment.
