Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer (Junior to Intermediate)
Location: Greater Southampton (Full-time office-based with ad hoc WFH flexibility)
Salary: £28,000 to £45,000 (depending on experience)
My client, a nationally respected building services consultancy, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team in the Greater Southampton area. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with a strong focus on decarbonisation and sustainability.
About the Role:

  • The successful candidate will support the design and delivery of electrical building services projects across a variety of sectors. Current and upcoming projects include:
  • Decarbonisation schemes for hospitals and public sector estates
  • New-build educational facilities
  • Healthcare infrastructure upgrades

This role is ideally suited to a Junior to Intermediate level Electrical Engineer with a passion for sustainable design and a desire to work on technically challenging and meaningful projects.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Design of electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, containment, and fire alarms
  • Production of detailed design drawings and specifications
  • Collaboration with mechanical engineers and other disciplines
  • Site visits, surveys, and client meetings
  • Supporting project delivery and contributing to technical development

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience in electrical design within a consultancy or contractor environment
  • Understanding of UK building regulations and relevant standards (e.g. BS 7671)
  • Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Amtech or similar
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
