A leading professional regulatory organisation is seeking a Witness Statement Officer to join its Legal Team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal, investigator, caseworker or regulatory professional with experience of taking witness statements and gathering evidence to join a supportive and purpose-driven organisation. You'll play a key role in helping progress complex fitness to practise investigations, ensuring witness evidence is obtained and documented to the highest standard. This role is initially offered on a 3-month contract.
As a Witness Statement Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Analysing case files and key documentation to identify evidential requirements
- Preparing witness interview plans
- Conducting witness interviews
- Drafting high-quality witness statements in accordance with legal and procedural requirements
- Supporting lawyers and investigators on witness-related matters
- Explaining legal processes clearly and sensitively to witnesses and complainants
- Working within a statutory and regulatory framework
- Providing an excellent level of customer service and witness care throughout the investigation process
What you'll need to succeed:
- Previous experience drafting witness statements and gathering evidence
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to review complex information
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail
- Experience interviewing witnesses or conducting investigative conversations
- The ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with a wide range of individuals, including vulnerable parties
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines and performance targets
