A leading professional regulatory organisation is seeking a Witness Statement Officer to join its Legal Team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal, investigator, caseworker or regulatory professional with experience of taking witness statements and gathering evidence to join a supportive and purpose-driven organisation. You'll play a key role in helping progress complex fitness to practise investigations, ensuring witness evidence is obtained and documented to the highest standard. This role is initially offered on a 3-month contract.

As a Witness Statement Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Analysing case files and key documentation to identify evidential requirements
  • Preparing witness interview plans
  • Conducting witness interviews
  • Drafting high-quality witness statements in accordance with legal and procedural requirements
  • Supporting lawyers and investigators on witness-related matters
  • Explaining legal processes clearly and sensitively to witnesses and complainants
  • Working within a statutory and regulatory framework
  • Providing an excellent level of customer service and witness care throughout the investigation process

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Previous experience drafting witness statements and gathering evidence
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to review complex information
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail
  • Experience interviewing witnesses or conducting investigative conversations
  • The ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with a wide range of individuals, including vulnerable parties
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines and performance targets
