Local Authority Lawyer (Social Services): West Yorkshire

Job Title: Specialist Lawyer – Social Services

Northern-based local authority, committed to serving the community with a strong social purpose. The office is conveniently located, easily accessible from Leeds, Sheffield, and Manchester train stations. The council\’s in-house legal team is expanding and seeks specialist lawyers to support social services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support the legal department with adult and child safeguarding cases.
2. Provide legal advice to council committees and appeals panels.
3. Attend court hearings, including family courts across the local area.

Requirements:

1. Qualified lawyer with a valid practising certificate.
2. Experience in adult safeguarding, childcare protection law, and Court of Protection matters.
3. Strong academic record and excellent communication skills.
4. Good understanding of public law and safeguarding procedures.
