A Midlands-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Head of Service for Older People Commissioning to provide strategic leadership across adult social care commissioning services, with a particular focus on care homes, residential care and domiciliary care provision. This is a key interim leadership role within a high-profile transformation programme and would suit an established commissioning leader with strong partnership, commercial and operational experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic commissioning and contract management of older people’s services.
  • Drive market development and sustainability across residential, nursing and domiciliary care services.
  • Support service transformation and deliver improved outcomes for residents.
  • Build effective relationships with providers, health partners and senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure commissioning activity delivers value for money and aligns with statutory duties.
  • Provide leadership across associated operational functions, including financial services and customer charging processes.
Essential Experience
  • Significant senior-level commissioning experience within Adult Social Care.
  • Proven leadership of older people’s commissioning services, including care homes and home care markets.
