Your new company Hays HR is delighted to be supporting a respected public sector organisation in the recruitment of an experienced HR Advisor on a temporary basis for at least 6 months. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable HR professional to join a busy HR team, providing hands-on support to HR Business Partners and managers across a broad range of employee relations and people matters. The successful candidate will be an established HR Advisor who can quickly build relationships, confidently manage a varied workload and provide practical, solutions-focused HR advice in line with organisational policies and employment legislation. Your new role Key Responsibilities will include: Provide day-to-day HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on a range of people-related matters. Support HR Business Partners with employee relations casework, including sickness absence, performance, capability, disciplinary and grievance matters. Prepare HR correspondence, case documentation and maintain accurate employee records. Manage Occupational Health referrals, monitor progress and interpret Occupational Health reports and recommendations. Advise managers on absence management processes, return-to-work arrangements and reasonable adjustments. Support DSE assessments and workplace adjustment recommendations where required. Provide guidance on probation, performance management, flexible working, family leave policies and other HR procedures. Work collaboratively with HR Business Partners to identify and escalate complex or high-risk cases when appropriate. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will have: Previous experience operating at HR Advisor level within a fast-paced environment. Strong employee relations and case management experience. Experience managing Occupational Health referrals and supporting absence management processes. A sound understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice. The ability to interpret and apply HR policies to individual circumstances, providing practical and professional advice. Excellent written communication skills with experience drafting HR correspondence and maintaining accurate records. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently. CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience would be advantageous.
