Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong software engineering skills to support transformation and data-processing activities within our Sage programme. The successful candidate must hold active SC Clearance and demonstrate expertise across Java, Unix-based environments, and XML/JSON data handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimise data-processing solutions within the Sage environment.
- Perform complex XML transformations and splitting, including CRS–FATCA data handling.
- Write robust, well-structured code using Java and Unix shell scripting.
- Develop and maintain data integration workflows and pipelines.
- Work with relational databases such as Oracle DB or MySQL, including writing efficient SQL queries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ETL, data ingestion, and transformation processes.
- Troubleshoot production issues and ensure data accuracy, reliability, and performance.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Active SC Clearance (mandatory).
- Strong experience in Java development.
- Proficiency in Unix shell scripting.
- Hands-on experience working with JSON and XML formats.
- Experience with relational databases: Oracle or MySQL.
- Solid SQL skills for data extraction, manipulation, and performance optimisation.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with XML splitting and large-scale XML processing.
- Exposure to ETL tools such as: Talend, Pentaho, UTM.
- Experience in financial or compliance-related data processing (e.g., CRS–FATCA).
