You’ll optimise the commercial performance of the UK & Ireland bulk gases portfolio—spanning production, distribution and sales—while owning senior relationships and developing new revenue streams.
- Sales strategy & delivery: Support the Head of Bulk Gases to shape medium‑ and long‑term sales strategy. Plan and execute sales to key accounts, win new customers, and expand product lines within the existing base while protecting margin.
- Key account leadership: Act as the single point of contact for designated major accounts and retail accounts. Maintain senior‑level engagement, prepare quotations, ensure contractual commitments are met by all parties and resolve issues quickly.
- Market & business development: Build an intelligence network to monitor competitor activity and spot early warning signs. Generate and qualify leads, translate customer needs into compelling proposals and help turn emerging needs into market offerings.
- Contracts & negotiations: Lead the negotiation and re‑negotiation of supply contracts, partnering with proposals/bids colleagues as needed.
- Planning, budgets & reporting: Contribute to the annual sales budget; prepare sales plans, forecasts and strategy papers that inform production and distribution planning. Provide timely reports in line with quality procedures.
- Collaboration & optimisation: Work closely with Customer Experience, Logistics, Operations and Finance (including Accounts Receivable) to optimise cost‑to‑serve, service reliability and cash collection. Offer commercial support to the packaged gases team when required.
- Technical & HESQ: Build strong technical understanding across bulk gases and applications. Operate in line with legislation and company HESQ policies, championing a positive safety culture.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) with substantial key account management background in B2B industrial gases across the UK & Ireland.
- Proven success in sales/marketing roles: growing revenue, defending share, negotiating complex contracts and closing multi‑year agreements.
- Credibility to operate at senior technical and commercial levels, with excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Strong planning, analytical and problem‑solving capabilities; comfortable working with minimal supervision and translating strategy into execution.
- Broad understanding of business functions (commercial, operations, logistics, finance) and how to align them to deliver profitable growth.
