About the Role:
As the Technical and Capital Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in managing the Council’s technical accounting requirements and overseeing its capital programme. This includes ensuring compliance with statutory accounting standards, supporting the production of the Statement of Accounts, and leading on capital financing strategies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing technical accounting reports and ensuring compliance with CIPFA Code of Practice.
- Managing the Council’s capital programme, including monitoring expenditure and funding sources.
- Leading on year-end processes and supporting the external audit.
- Advising senior stakeholders on complex financial and capital issues.
- Supporting the development of financial policies and procedures to strengthen governance.
- Mentoring junior team members and contributing to the continuous improvement of financial processes.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualified CCAB accountant (or equivalent) with strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Experience in capital accounting and managing large-scale capital programmes.
- Proven ability to deliver year-end accounts and liaise effectively with auditors.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at a senior level.
