Your new company Hays Education is working with a secondary school in Wallasey, Wirral, looking to appoint an Attendance Officer from January 2026. Applications are welcome from people looking for full or part-time hours.
Your new role As Attendance Officer, you will be working with pupils and school SLT to monitor, report on and improve attendance within the school. Day-to-day duties will involve:
- Working with pupils both individually and in groups to raise attendance
- Providing training and support to parents/carers
- Analysing attendance data and reporting to school SLT
- Ensuring registers are completed and chasing unexplained absence according to the school's first day response policy
- Liaising with other agencies and the school safeguarding team where required
- Representing the school at meetings; advising on policy and minuting at meetings
What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this Attendance Officer post you will:
- Have prior experience in an attendance/school data role, which would be a massive advantage
- Be familiar with SIMS and the inputting/production of reports on attendance-related data
- Be confident working with pupils and their families, and dealing with people from school, home and a number of other agencies
- Have excellent attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate reports using SIMS and MS Office
- Have excellent communication skills
