Operating under one of the largest long-term partnership agreements with the Ministry of Defence, the organisation is responsible for delivering modern, high-quality living and working environments for thousands of service personnel. Their work spans construction, refurbishment, and ongoing maintenance of accommodation and amenities, ensuring soldiers have access to safe, comfortable, and sustainable facilities. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, they’ve spearheaded initiatives such as large-scale solar energy projects that reduce carbon emissions and support the UK’s net-zero goals, demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility and future-ready solutions.

As a Digital Change Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering the organisation’s Digital Transformation Strategy. This is a position where you’ll act as the bridge between business operations and technology development, ensuring that digital initiatives are not only well-planned and coordinated but also successfully adopted across the organisation. Your work will be central to driving meaningful change and embedding digital solutions that make a real impact.

You’ll be deeply involved in engaging stakeholders across all business functions, building strong relationships and ensuring transparency throughout the change process. From planning and coordinating digital change activities to managing communications, you’ll make sure everyone is aligned and informed. A key part of your role will be creating and maintaining the organisation’s Digital Roadmap, providing clarity on priorities and progress as transformation unfolds.

In this role, you’ll work closely with IT teams and application developers to translate operational needs into practical digital solutions. You’ll collaborate with the Digital Specialist to shape and validate business requirements, while navigating initiatives through governance processes such as the IT Steering Group. Your ability to connect the dots between business needs and technical delivery will be critical to ensuring infrastructure readiness and smooth implementation.

Supporting the Head of Digital will also be a core part of your responsibilities, helping to deliver transformation initiatives that align with strategic objectives. You’ll monitor change readiness and adoption across teams, applying change management methodology to minimise disruption and maximise engagement. Tracking the impact of digital initiatives and providing feedback will ensure continuous improvement and measurable success.

Finally, you’ll take on line management of the Digital Specialist, offering guidance and fostering development within the team. This is a role where you’ll not only lead change but also help shape the future of digital within the organisation, making it an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about driving transformation and delivering results.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Practical experience is key. We’re looking for someone who has successfully planned and delivered digital change initiatives and understands the principles and methodologies behind digital transformation.
  • You should be confident in translating business needs into technology requirements and have a track record of working in cross-functional teams, bridging the gap between business and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing service providers, including third-party suppliers, and familiarity with application development processes and tools such as DevOps will be highly valued.
  • Sector knowledge can give you an edge. Exposure to defence or public sector environments, understanding benefits realisation, and experience with long-term infrastructure programmes or Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contracts are all desirable.
  • Beyond technical expertise, we’re looking for someone with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. You’ll need to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, guiding teams through change and driving adoption of new capabilities.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills are essential, as you’ll be managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach will help you succeed, along with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • To be successful in this role, you’ll need a strong academic foundation, ideally educated to degree level in a relevant discipline such as Business, IT, or Change Management.
  • Professional certifications will set you apart, with qualifications in Change Management (Prosci or APMG), Agile or Scrum, ITIL Foundation, or Project Management (APM) being highly desirable.
