Your new company: Our client is a world leader in Power Conversion & Storage and provides electrification systems that are critical to their global customers' power and energy needs. They work with the world’s major energy, maritime, and industrial organisations, enabling their transition to energy efficiency and decarbonisation, including through their specialist motors, drives, and control technologies. Having won major contracts in the UK defence sector, this company will work in partnership with 3 major global engineering organisations to deliver world-class engineering projects.
Your new role: Our client has an exciting opportunity for someone to join their team on a UK eyes-only project as a Quality Assurance Engineer working on challenging and exciting world-leading defence projects. This role will be to solve complex problems whilst providing operable solutions and acting with minimal direction using your own initiative. You will be adaptable to work on a variety of continuous improvement initiatives in support of the organisation whilst reporting directly to the UK Quality Leader.
Essential responsibilities:
- Manage the company's NCR system, provide management reports and drive the actions with the required stakeholders to resolution, by using known quality tools such as Kaizen/RCA/8D/5Why etc.
- Carry out product and process audits and the creation of project and manufacturing control plans.
- Ensure that control plans and associated documentation are implemented effectively and maintained through the lifecycle of the project.
- Promotion of zero defects and stop the line culture.
- Ensure compliance and assist with the QMS (ISO9000:2015).
- Participate in cross-functional teams to aid the development and identification of risk on new projects/processes inclusive of using an FMEA approach.
What you’ll need to succeed:
To be successful in the role, you will need proven experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer and you must be eligible to get UK security clearance and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. You will need knowledge of quality systems and measurement tools and techniques and have strong knowledge of Advanced Quality Planning (APQP), Part approval processes (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and have experience of phase gate design reviews 1 – 5 (ideally 1 and 2). Lean Manufacturing knowledge, VSM, Gauge R&R and the ability to understand engineering drawings (electrical and mechanical) and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of NATO standards AQAP2105/2110 etc.
Qualifications and Experience Levels:
Relevant business, commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, or HNC, or equivalent NVQ level 4 qualification.
