Your new role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Gas Responsible Person to join thepliance team, providing expert technical leadership and ensuring the safe operation of gas systems across a diverse and nationally significant portfolio.

You will act as the recognised technical authority for gaspliance within your region, ensuring natural gas, LPG and associated systems are managed safely and remain fullypliant with statutory legislation, Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) requirements, and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities include

  • Overseeing gaspliance activities across the estate.
  • Ensuring statutory inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance programmes are delivered effectively.
  • Monitoring and reporting against keypliance requirements.
  • Conducting audits and assurance reviews, identifying improvement opportunities and ensuring corrective actions arepleted.
  • Providing specialist technical advice on gas infrastructure, procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
  • Supporting the design, installation, andmissioning of new and existing gas systems.
  • Investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Managing gas-related risks and maintainingpliance records.
  • Supporting emergency responses and participating in a one-in-four on-call rota.
  • Working closely with contractors and supply chain partners to verifypetence and monitor performance.
  • Producing technical reports and presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
  • Coaching operational teams and promoting a positivepliance and safety culture.

The role offers abination of home, site visits, and travel across the Defence estate.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have substantial experience managing gaspliance across large property, infrastructure, or facilities management portfolios, alongside a detailed understanding of:

  • Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations
  • Gas Safety Management Regulations
  • Relevant British Standards
  • Health and Safety legislation

You should also demonstrate

  • Experience conductingpliance audits and technical assurance reviews.
  • The ability to make informed, risk-based decisions within highly regulated environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management andmunication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical capability.
  • Amitment to continuous improvement and safety excellence.

Essential qualifications include

:
β€’ Current ACS Gas qualifications appropriate to the role.

  • Mechanical or Building Services qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND, or equivalent).
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, or willingness to work towards accreditation.

Desirable experience and qualifications include

  • Defence, MOD, Facilities Management, or similarly regulated environments.
  • LPG systems knowledge.
  • MOD Gas Safety Case and DIO policy experience.
  • Knowledge of Defence engineering standards and IGEM/GL/6.
  • SCOpetencies.
  • EUSR Gas registration.
  • Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) status.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
