A leading civil engineering contractor is delivering a major highways improvement scheme in Norfolk. The project includes significant earthworks, drainage, highway construction and associated infrastructure works aimed at improving traffic flow, reducing congestion and enhancing journey reliability on a key section of the strategic road network.

As Section Engineer, you will be responsible for managing a section of earthworks, drainage and highways works from planning through to delivery. Key duties will include:

  • Managing and coordinating site engineering activities
  • Leading and mentoring Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers
  • Reviewing drawings and raising technical queries
  • Producing lookahead programmes and monitoring progress
  • Managing temporary works requirements
  • Producing ITPs and quality documentation
  • Maintaining accurate site records and supporting commercial activities
  • Reviewing RAMS and ensuring safe systems of work are followed
  • Working closely with subcontractors, designers and client representatives
  • Driving high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Previous experience as a Section Engineer on highways or major infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in earthworks, drainage and general civil engineering works
  • Knowledge of temporary works, construction sequencing and programme management
  • Ability to manage and develop junior engineering staff
  • SMSTS and relevant Health & Safety training
  • Valid CSCS Card
