HAYS Architecture & Design NI are proud to be working again on behalf of a well‑established Architectural Practice in Newry, in their search for a Senior Architect. They have earned their reputation for being a design‑driven studio with a strong reputation for delivering thoughtful, technically robust and commercially grounded projects throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Operating across residential, commercial, mixed‑use and civic sectors, the organisation is known for its collaborative approach, meticulous detailing and commitment to enhancing the built environment through high‑quality design solutions. With steady project growth and a busy pipeline, the Newry studio is now seeking an experienced Senior Architect to strengthen its expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident, capable Senior Architect who enjoys balancing design leadership with technical delivery. You will work closely with directors, project architects and technologists to lead schemes from early feasibility and planning, through detailed design, tender, and construction stages. You will be central to shaping design direction, guiding project teams and ensuring that design intent is carried through to fully resolved, buildable outcomes. The practice offers a supportive, collaborative environment where initiative, autonomy and a positive mindset are genuinely valued.

You will take a leading role across multiple live projects, preparing concept designs, planning submissions, building control applications, and comprehensive working drawing packages. You will coordinate with consultants, contractors and project stakeholders, ensuring compliance with NI, ROI and English building regulations, and helping resolve technical and site‑based issues as they arise. You will contribute to project programming, design reviews and quality assurance, ensuring that information is accurate, timely and aligned with the practice’s standards.

You will be a fully qualified Architect (RIBA / RIAI / ARB) with a minimum of three years’ post‑qualification experience and a strong track record of delivering high‑quality projects. You will demonstrate excellent design ability, strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with clients, consultants and contractors. You must have solid technical knowledge, experience producing and coordinating construction information, and proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit. A meticulous eye for detail, the ability to manage deadlines and a collaborative approach are essential.

This role offers the opportunity to join a respected, forward‑thinking practice where you can take ownership of meaningful projects and play a key role in the studio’s continued growth. You will work in a friendly, engaged team environment, with opportunities for professional development, design influence and long‑term progression. For a Senior Architect seeking a position with autonomy, variety and genuine career potential, this is a compelling next step.
