We are seeking a proactive and people centred HR Officer to take a leading role in shaping recruitment, onboarding, and day to day culture within our organisation. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a varied, fast-paced environment and enjoys working closely with managers to provide supportive, practical HR solutions.
In this role, you will oversee the front end of the employee lifecycle, ensuring new hires join with confidence and that our values are reflected in everything we do. You’ll use your expertise to streamline hiring, guide managers through people-related challenges, translate policy into action, and help build a workplace where colleagues feel informed, supported, and able to grow.
Your new role
- Lead the full recruitment and onboarding journey, ensuring hiring is efficient, values driven, and compliant across a diverse range of services.
- Write engaging job adverts, manage job boards, proactively source candidates, and maintain strong relationships with recruitment agencies.
- Ensure the onboarding experience is consistent, welcoming, and aligned to organisational values for all new starters.
- Provide early stage HR support to managers on conduct, attendance, and performance matters, promoting timely and informal resolution.
- Translate technical HR policies into practical guidance and training that managers can easily understand and apply.
- Coordinate staff engagement activity, including surveys and stay/exit interviews, and share insights to support cultural improvements.
- Deliver short training sessions to build manager confidence in core people processes, such as interviewing and holding effective 121s.
- Contribute to the delivery of leadership development programmes and support with cultural and workforce data for reporting.
- Provide coaching and oversight to ensure recruitment and compliance records are accurate and maintained to a high standard.
- Act as a lead user for HR systems relating to recruitment and onboarding, ensuring workflows are efficient, and the candidate experience is high quality.
What you'll need to succeed
- Understanding of modern recruitment platforms, social media sourcing, and agency management.
- Knowledge of UK Employment Law and HR Best Practice.
- Proven experience in a recruitment / HR role.
- Experience in designing and delivering staff inductions or engagement projects.
- Exposure to advising managers on informal/low-level disciplinary or grievance matters.
- Experience working in a multi-site or diverse organisation.
