Your new company

The services of Hays have been retained by our client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, to recruit a Maintenance Officer on an ongoing temporary contract basis to work from their offices in Limavady.

Your new role

Reporting to the Area Maintenance Manager, you will ensure that maintenance repairs to Housing Executive homes are carried out to exacting cost, quality, and time standards in accordance with the terms of contracts. Your main duties will include:

  • Carrying out inspections of properties to a set timetable to authorize necessary maintenance work by contractors;
  • Conducting inspections to ensure work standards and authorize payments;
  • Advising tenants on maintenance policies and responsibilities, and providing updates on work progress and timeframes;
  • Addressing deficiencies in maintenance service delivery with contractors for remedial action;
  • Liaising with Housing Executive staff, especially regarding property turnover and re-let readiness.

What you\'ll need to succeed

To be considered, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Time served within a construction trade with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience;
  • A degree in Building Studies (or equivalent) with 1 year relevant experience;
  • A BTEC Higher Diploma in Building Studies (or equivalent) with 2 years relevant experience.

Relevant experience includes work on the design, improvement, or maintenance of domestic properties.

You will be paid weekly via Hays. The hourly rate ranges from £31,586 to £35,235. Hours are Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times possible. Hybrid working is available, with provided laptop and equipment. Benefits include 35 days paid annual leave, business mileage paid at 45p per mile, and the potential for a permanent role in the future.
