An established and design‑led building services engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer as part of its continued growth across the UK market. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative consultancy known for delivering high-quality, technically robust designs across a wide range of prestigious and complex projects.
You’ll work closely with senior engineers and associates, taking responsibility for the electrical design of building services systems from concept through to delivery. Projects are varied, engaging and technically challenging, offering excellent exposure and development.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Electrical building services design including power, lighting, small power, fire alarm, data and security systems
- Producing calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports
- Working collaboratively with mechanical engineers, architects and external consultants
- Attending project and client meetings as required
- Supporting junior engineers and contributing to internal knowledge sharing
- Ensuring designs comply with current UK standards, regulations and best practice
Project sectors you’ll gain exposure to include:
- Healthcare – hospitals, clinics and specialist care facilities
- Residential – high‑end apartments and large‑scale residential schemes
Projects range from technically complex refurbishments to large new‑build developments, providing excellent all‑round experience.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Experience working as an Electrical Design Engineer within building services in the UK
- Strong understanding of UK regulations and design standards
- Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent)
- Confident using industry software such as Amtech, Dialux/Relux and AutoCAD
- Ambition to progress towards Chartered Engineer status (IEng or CEng)
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
