As an Education Lawyer, you will provide specialist legal advice and representation on a wide range of education law matters. You will also support Adult and Social Care teams on matters intersecting with education law.

Key responsibilities:

  • Advise on education law matters, including SEN appeals, school transport disputes, and statutory obligations.
  • Support Adult and Social Care teams on education-related aspects of care plans and provision for vulnerable adults.
  • Draft and review policies, agreements, and statutory notices to ensure compliance with legislation and case law.
  • Manage a varied caseload of education and social care matters, delivering timely and cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external bodies (schools, academies, tribunals, and legal representatives).
  • Monitor legislative changes and case law developments to keep the authority compliant and informed.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • E&W-qualified solicitor with strong experience in education law.
  • Working knowledge of Adult and Social Care law and its intersection with education matters.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Local authority experience is desirable but not essential.
