Hays are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Clerk of Works to join our client's Housing Services team within a London-based local authority. As a Clerk of Works, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and compliance of housing maintenance works across the residential portfolio.
Your new role:
- Monitor and inspect housing maintenance and repair works, ensuring compliance with specifications, regulations, and health & safety standards.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of works.
- Maintain accurate records of site visits, inspections, and progress reports.
- Identify and report on defects, poor workmanship, or non-compliance issues.
- Support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance programmes, including voids, kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, and external works.
- Ensure residents’ concerns are addressed and that works are carried out with minimal disruption.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Proven experience as a Clerk of Works or similar role within housing maintenance or construction.
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, health & safety legislation, and construction standards.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites.
- Relevant qualifications (CIOB, ICWCI, HNC/HND in Building or Construction) are desirable.
