Your new company: You will be joining a highly respected long established law firm known for delivering exceptional legal advice and outstanding client service. The finance team plays a central role in managing the firm’s financial operations, policies and administration, working collaboratively across the business to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
Your new role: You will be part of the revenue team working closely with both billing and credit control colleagues to support day to day and monthly billing cycles, manage partner related debts and contribute to billing and cash collection targets.
Billing responsibilities include:- Processing invoices submitted to the finance team
- Preparing credit notes and pro forma invoices
- Monitoring shared inboxes and assisting with billing queries
- Reviewing and inputting disbursement invoices including Counsel and Expert fees in multiple currencies
- Maintaining accurate client and matter records including charge out rates
- Supporting the submission of invoices through e-billing platforms
- Managing a portfolio of partner related debts
- Reviewing aged debt and liaising with partners and fee earners
- Managing your collections workflow and ensuring timely debtor reminders
- Maintaining accurate notes and diary management
- Escalating overdue matters where appropriate
- Assisting with monthly reporting on high exposure clients
- Allocating funds received in settlement of invoices
- Handling internal and external queries by phone and email
- Taking card payments for invoices
- Monitoring team inboxes to ensure timely responses
- Maintaining strong working knowledge of internal systems including onboarding and time recording
What you’ll need to succeed: At least two years experience in a similar finance role within a legal or professional services environment. Strong working knowledge of practice management systems; experience with Aderant or Elite is highly desirable. Confidence engaging with partners and fee earners including experience in debt meetings and client liaison. A proactive, enthusiastic and flexible approach to work. Ability to work independently, managing competing deadlines and performing well under pressure. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. A collaborative mindset and willingness to support the wider team during busy periods. Interest in contributing to firm wide initiatives, projects and system improvements. A results driven attitude; the firm operates an agile working model with an expectation that staff spend at least 40 percent of their time in the office.
