We are currently seeking an experienced Java Developer (contract) to join our client's team and support the delivery of key projects. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on development experience and be confident working within modern frameworks, cloud environments, and agile delivery teams.

Your new role:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain Java-based applications
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs
  • Work with Spring Framework to deliver secure, scalable services
  • Implement front-end components using Thymeleaf and JSON data structures
  • Contribute to application design following GDS themes and design principles
  • Support microservices-based architecture and best practices
  • Manage builds, releases, and CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps
  • Implement and troubleshoot cookie/session management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Strong commercial experience with Java
  • Solid background in Spring Framework
  • Experience with JSON, Thymeleaf, and template-based front-end development
  • Proven ability to design and develop RESTful APIs
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD, pipelines, version control)
  • Knowledge of GDS design principles (must have)
  • Understanding of microservices architecture
  • Strong grasp of session and cookie management within web applications
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
