A supportive primary school in Sefton is seeking a passionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work closely with a pupil diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Role Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD, helping them access learning throughout the school day.
- Assist with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction needs.
- Follow structured routines and use tailored strategies to support engagement.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to implement personalised support plans.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
- Support the child during transitions and unstructured times.
Experience Needed
- Experience working with children in a school or childcare environment.
- Experience supporting children with SEN, especially autism or communication needs, is highly desirable.
- Confidence using visual supports, routine-based strategies, or de-escalation techniques (advantageous).
- Strong communication skills and a calm, nurturing approach.
Qualifications
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (CACHE/NCFE).
- GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent).
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
