About the Role: Are you passionate about working outdoors and keeping grounds looking their best? We’re looking for a reliable and hard-working Ground Maintenance Operative to join the facilities team at HMP Garth, supporting Amey in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-kept environment. This is a temporary position ideal for someone with a strong work ethic and a keen eye for detail, who enjoys physical work and takes pride in maintaining outdoor spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- General grounds maintenance, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding, and litter picking
- Use of powered tools and machinery (strimmers, mowers, hedge cutters)
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with health and safety regulations
- Supporting the wider facilities team as needed
- Working within the secure environment of a prison estate
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in grounds or garden maintenance preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a proactive attitude
- Willingness to undergo security clearance and vetting to work in a prison environment
- A valid UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
