As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance and promoting a strong safety culture within the chemical laboratories. You will:

  • Advise on health and safety legislation, policies, and best practices, particularly COSHH and hazardous substance management.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections across laboratory environments.
  • Deliver training and guidance to staff and students on chemical safety and emergency procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with academic and technical teams to embed safety into research and teaching activities.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and laboratory safety standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Previous experience in higher education or research environments, such as the pharmaceutical industry, will be desirable.
