Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Technician to provide basic to intermediate-level desktop installation, configuration, support, and troubleshooting services. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in hardware and software support within a desktop infrastructure environment.
Location: Doncaster DN4 5PQ
Rate: An hourly rate, in-scope IR35, of £ (PAYE) OR £ per hour (via a Hays Approved Umbrella company).
Contract Length: up to 31st March 2026
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (9:00 – 17:30)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide desktop hardware installation services requiring basic technical skills for service delivery solutions.
- Unbox and install equipment at desks, ensuring proper placement and setup.
- Connect peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and monitors.
- Connect necessary cables (power and network) to ensure functionality.
- Perform relevant power-on self-tests to verify hardware readiness.
- Initiate basic steps for automated builds when required.
- Execute simple scripted post-login configurations as part of setup.
- Work variable shift patterns based on business requirements.
Key Requirements:
- Maintain and update system records, primarily using ServiceNow.
- Ensure strict adherence to established procedures, scripts, and policies.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working days when required (minimal changes with prior notice).
- Hold a current UK driving license (mandatory requirement).
