Hays Education is delighted to be supporting a Secondary School & Sixth Form based in Cheltenham with the recruitment of a passionate and skilled Modern Foreign Languages Teacher, specialising in French and Spanish. This maternity cover is available to start either after the Easter break or from September, depending on candidate availability.
The school is well-established, supportive and committed to delivering a high-quality languages curriculum. You will be joining a collaborative MFL department with strong subject leadership and access to excellent teaching resources.
As an MFL Teacher, you will teach French and Spanish across Key Stages 3 and 4, planning and delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that support excellent progress. You will plan and prepare lessons, assess student work, and contribute to curriculum development within a hardworking and supportive team.
You will play an active role in maintaining high standards of behaviour, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring students are encouraged to develop strong communication skills in both languages. Depending on experience and school needs, there may also be opportunities to contribute to extracurricular activities or language clubs.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Specialism in French and Spanish, with strong classroom delivery across KS3–KS4
- The right to work in the UK
- An Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one
- Strong behaviour management, excellent communication skills and a passion for language teaching
- ECTs are welcome to apply, as the school offers supportive induction and mentoring.
