We’re seeking a proactive Highways Engineer to plan, design, and deliver highways and drainage schemes, with particular emphasis on confined spaces operations (man-entry sewers, chambers) and surface water/foul drainage in urban and rural environments. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce designs, manage construction, ensure compliance, and uphold safety and quality standards.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng/BSc or higher) or equivalent.
  • Professional: Working towards or holding IEng/CEng with ICE (or equivalent).
  • Street Works: NRSWA (New Roads & Street Works Act) Operative and/or Supervisor.
  • Confined Spaces: City & Guilds / Water UK-aligned certification (Medium Risk or High Risk Entry with top man & rescue awareness), including up-to-date gas detection, BA familiarity (where applicable), and Emergency/Rescue provisions.
  • Health & Safety: CSCS (appropriate card). IOSH Managing Safely or SSSTS (Supervisor) minimum; NEBOSH General/Construction desirable.
  • Traffic Management: Chapter 8 awareness/certification for temporary traffic management (TTM).
  • First Aid: Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or equivalent.
  • Driving: Full UK driving licence.
