Interim Operations Manager
Contract: Interim
Location: Hybrid — office attendance required twice-weekly (Wednesdays and Fridays)
Rate: £400-£600 per day

About the role
This senior role leads day-to-day delivery across parking services — from civil parking enforcement and penalty processing to property/asset maintenance and service performance — under the Traffic Management Act 2004. You’ll manage teams, budgets, suppliers and KPIs; handle escalated complaints and high-profile issues; and work closely with Members, partners and senior officers.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure compliant, efficient delivery across enforcement, processing, assets and projects.
- Lead operational reviews and process redesign; drive continuous improvement; contribute data-led insight to shape a modern parking service.
- Manage contracts and procurement; monitor performance and budgets; resolve escalated complaints and service issues.
- Build relationships with partners and represent the service at regional forums; brief senior stakeholders and Members.
Essential experience
- Senior management experience within an operational environment.
- Strong people management experience, including performance management.
- Contract management and budget control.
- Ability to confidently engage with key senior stakeholders, including elected Members.
- Strong commercial acumen, someone who is motivated by results.
