Hays are recruiting on behalf of a leading Northern Ireland construction contractor for a SHEQ Manager to join their team on a permanent basis, based out of their Belfast office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SHEQ professional to take ownership of the company's SHEQ function and play a key role in driving standards across the business.
As SHEQ Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality compliance across the organisation. Working closely with operational and management teams, you will ensure company procedures, management systems and legislative requirements are effectively implemented and maintained.
Your duties will include:
- Carrying out regular site audits and inspections
- Producing and reviewing Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans
- Maintaining risk, incident and contractor databases
- Managing non-conformance reporting procedures
- Preparing audit reports and monitoring corrective actions
- Maintaining legal compliance registers
- Ensuring all permits, certificates and statutory records remain up to date
- Overseeing the company's integrated management systems
- Coordinating updates in line with changes to legislation and industry standards
- Leading SHEQ awareness initiatives
- Coordinating training requirements across the business
- Analysing performance trends
- Preparing monthly SHEQ reports
- Supporting project teams with documentation including Operation & Maintenance Manuals and project handover information
To be considered for this position, you will have previous experience in a SHEQ, HSEQ or Health & Safety management role within the construction, civil engineering or building sector. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of health & safety legislation, auditing processes, risk management and quality systems, alongside experience maintaining and improving management systems.
You will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the business. Ideally, you will hold a NEBOSH qualification and have experience of working with ISO management systems including 9001, 14001 and 45001.
