The services of Hays have been retained by our client, Choice Housing, to recruit a Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis to assist with the cost management of a range of planned maintenance works.
Choice Housing is one of Northern Ireland’s leading housing associations, managing over 14,000 homes and supporting around 40,000 tenants.
Choice delivers a wide range of housing solutions including general needs, sheltered housing, support amodation, and homes for families withplex needs.
Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Assets Projects, you will assist with the delivery of the Association’s Planned Maintenance Programme by ensuring effective cost controls and effective contract management.
This will include:
Preparing and reviewing cost estimates and budget figures.
Ensuring cash flow in relation to planned maintenance works is managed.
Monitoring day-to-day cost controls and providing regular reports to the Head of Asset Projects.
Managing, monitoring and reporting onpensation Events.
Supporting the authorisation and submission of project variations.
Participating and advising on programme delay issues arising from change or variation and to review claims for extensions of time.
Reviewing, negotiating and settling accounts with contractors.
Assisting surveyors and procurement teams with bills of quantities and budgets.
Participating in procurement projects to ensure transparency and value for money and resources utilising approved forms of contract including NEC3 and NEC4.
Monitoring pre-tender estimates and Bo Q’s from consultants.
Approvingpensation Events and other contract variations.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you must possess:
A degree in Quantity Surveying.
Membership or working towards membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
At least 3 years’ Quantity Surveying experience.
Experience in maintenance/project cost management.
Experience of NEC Contracts.
Strongmercial and contract management skills.
Ability to prepare estimates, evaluate tenders, and manage financial reporting.
A current full driving licence and access to a suitable form of transport.
