Your new role

This is a Finance Business Partner role with a strong emphasis on the preparation of monthly management accounts and core financial control. While offering broader business-facing exposure, the position requires hands-on involvement in the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.

  • Full responsibility for preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet ownership
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines
  • Posting and reconciling payroll journals, accruals, prepayments, and deferred income
  • Preparation of ad hoc financial analysis and quarterly external reporting
  • Supporting the Head of Finance with budgeting, forecasting and internal MI reporting
  • Supporting year-end processes and preparing audit evidence for external auditors
  • Collaborating closely with operational teams to improve internal reporting and enhance the flow of information between departments within the division
  • Taking a proactive role in reviewing and improving financial systems, controls, and procedures
  • Exposure to wider group finance function with the opportunity to support group-level initiatives and reporting requirements

What you'll need to succeed

  • Fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA or similar); part-qualified candidates will also be considered
  • Strong experience preparing full management accounts, statutory accounts, VAT returns, and audit support
  • Background in either industry or practice considered
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel - broad knowledge of Excel and the ability to tackle complex tasks and provide analysis from large data sets
  • Strong communicator with experience liaising with clients, stakeholders, and auditors
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in deadline-driven environments
  • Self-driven, solution-focused, and proactive — able to take ownership of tasks, ask the right questions, work through problems independently, and deliver clear, considered solutions without requiring ongoing direction
  • Confident working across multiple accounting systems (including Sage and bespoke platforms)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proactive in improving processes and reporting
