You will be joining a newly established, publicly owned energy organisation, designed to accelerate clean energy deployment, boost energy independence, create jobs, and ensure that communities benefit from secure, homegrown energy. The company is headquartered in Scotland and is backed by significant government investment. It operates independently but in close collaboration with industry, local authorities, and other public sector bodies to support the UK’s decarbonisation goals.
As Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for delivering commercial excellence, acting as a trusted advisor to the local delivery team, and ensuring a customer-focused approach that aligns with business needs and stakeholder priorities. You will:
- Build and manage relationships with key suppliers, ensuring value for money and robust risk management.
- Lead and develop a team, fostering high performance and professional growth.
- Oversee the full commercial lifecycle, including strategy, procurement, contract and supplier management, and grant delivery.
- Develop category management strategies, lead supplier negotiations, and provide expert commercial guidance.
- Ensure commercial assurance measures are embedded from the outset and maintain strong engagement across the organisation.
Within your first year, you will be required to gain a government commercial Function accreditation at Commercial Lead grade.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Extensive experience in procurement management, delivering multiple procurements using central frameworks and open procedures.
- Proven contract management skills, handling medium to high complexity/value contracts.
- Strong knowledge of category management and the end-to-end commercial and grant lifecycle.
- Demonstrated ability to secure value for money and influence senior stakeholders and suppliers.
- Risk and assurance management skills, with evidence-based decision-making.
- High ethical standards, upholding integrity in supply chains.
- Team leadership experience, including developing others and managing performance.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Experience with Public Contract Regulations 2015 and/or Procurement Act 2023.
